Tokio Hotel: Old crocks?

Bill: “We are now getting into an age, where it is rather flattering when you get characterized as a teenie.” The interview:

With their third album “Humanoid” Tokio Hotel are on tour through Europe now. At the same time, the four-headed band gets idolized and haunted from fans daily. As the only band member, Georg Listing is not a single anymore. In the talk with the Deutsche Presse Agentur “dpa” the four boys comment on marriage, privacy and the term “teenie”:

All band members are already at the beginning of the 20’s, don’t you like to get rid off the stamp Teenie-band?
Bill Kaulitz: “We’d rather want to have it back. Because now we are getting into an age, where it is rather flattering when you get characterized as a teenie. It’s not a big problem for us. It’s not an offence for me.”

How will Tokio Hotel sound in ten years?
Tom Kaulitz
: “You’ll see it then. We go into the studio and do the things, we bent on doing. During you are writing, it turns out, in which direction the album goes. In ten years it will be similar.”

Will the first band members married then?
Bill Kaulitz: “I don’t know if somebody intends to marry, Georg…”
Georg Listing: “In ten years? I can’t estimate that.”
Tom Kaulitz: “To be honest: Yes, in ten years someone of us will be definitely married.”

The fans haunt you at every turn, when does it get annoying?
Tom Kaulitz
: “When we’re on tour, it’s rather epic, that the people follow us everywhere. Even if you come to other countries and get welcomed by as much fans as possible – that’s absolutely great. Actually it’s just annoying when you try to be private. But that doesn’t happen that often to us, maybe 40 days per year.”

Would you like to barter a part of your success for more privacy?
Bill Kaulitz
: “Absolutely, straightaway of course, if it would be possible. But if you want to have success and lead a life like we do it now, you have to make sacrifices of course.”

Future plans: Model and designer

Did you think about a classical education, e.g. apprenticeship or studies, after graduation?
Bill Kaulitz
: “No, it never was a topic for us. The graduation was completely voluntarily. We just did it for us, because Tom and me, we’re such typical perfectionists on that score. We wanted to have a classical graduation in our pocket at least.”

Bill, you were a model at the fashion week in Milan. Will the fans see you more often on the catwalk now?
Bill Kaulitz:
“I could imagine, to do it more often and to design some clothes, too, because it’s really a thing, where I have fun doing it.”
